The mobile waves get a lot rolling in the special school home

Success Story: Modular Pumptrack for the Buechweid Foundation

A small insight into the special school home of the Buechweid Foundation in Russikon / Switzerland

Heat - Growth - Paths

The focus is on supporting children and young people with behavioral problems and learning difficulties. The special school home is a "temporary home". "We create security, give them self-confidence and train them for a life with the greatest possible independence."

Why a modular pump track?

Especially for children and young people with challenging behaviour, poor concentration or with a lot of energy, it is important to give them space, time and area to move around sufficiently and to be encouraged.

That is why the decision was made quickly in spring 2024:
A modular pump track is allowed to “move in”.

A complete success story for real inclusion

Inclusion, yes please!

The track becomes an inclusive meeting place, because children and young people with special needs become wave heroes here, grow beyond themselves and belong.

Physically exhausted

Riding a pump track keeps you fit! The movement and physical activity are good for the development of children and young people. Motor skills and coordination are worked on in a playful way while the cardiovascular system is stimulated.

Balanced & Able to Concentrate

Sport and exercise during recess, in PE lessons and in free time keeps children and young people busy. Afterwards, they are more balanced, relaxed and able to concentrate better in class.

Social interaction

EVERYONE can play together on the pump track, which promotes social skills. People help, wait, learn, encourage each other, show consideration, share successes, have role models or are role models themselves.

Particularly beneficial for development

The Modular Pumptrack has been awarded as “particularly development-promoting” by the Federal Association for Posture and Movement Promotion

At least 1 hour of exercise daily...

…this is what the WHO – the World Health Organisation – recommends to all kids and young people between the ages of 5 and 17.

Small but mighty! This movement is already available for under 5,000 €/ChF!

Comparable to playgrounds and other facilities, modular pump tracks are very cost-effective and space-saving even for small areas

Everyone is welcome!

The pump track is located on the foundation's school grounds. It is also open to the public and everyone is welcome to use their favorite rollers!

Mobile and Modular

Particularly important: The waves can be dismantled, rebuilt or extended at any time. Space-saving storage is no problem. A few helping hands and the young people are twice as proud if they were even involved in the construction.

Curriculum: Rolling, gliding, driving?!

The Modular Pumptrack in the special needs school home will also be used in physical education classes as a tool for playful learning to increase safety on bicycles or scooters.

TÜV and ISO certified

Safety first! The Modular Pumptrack waves are very safe!

Conclusion after the first months with a pump track in the special school home of the Buechweid Foundation

Pedagogical director Fatmir Blakaj

The pump track has many positive effects on children's behavior. The shared interest leads to new friendships, and the pump track is often used across classes, which strengthens social interaction. Regular use improves reaction speed, promotes a healthy body awareness, and strengthens body coordination. In addition, the children and young people have the opportunity to express their creativity by trying out new tricks and also experience self-efficacy in a playful way.

More than just a playground!
