From pro rider to pump track manufacturer!

PARKITECT History Part One

Find Your Inner Child.

You know that feeling on a rollercoaster? That moment of pure weightlessness? We think that sensation captures something essential about what genuine fun feels like

That is precisely why Erik Burgon invented the Modular Pumptrack all those years ago: to create moments that feel effortless and joyful, for everyone, regardless of age or ability.

A Teenager with a Dream

PARKITECT founder Erik Burgon in his younger years

A teenager from Vancouver, Canada with a dream

Erik grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where he was already turning heads with his riding in the late 1990s. As part of a pro rider team, he toured extensively — building spectacular modular bike elements that formed the backdrop for the tricks and stunts of the Flow Show.

Where everything began...

The Flow Show took Erik successfully across the USA, Canada and Europe.

Finale Ligure, October 2002

One tour stop in Italy the event caught the attention of a local organiser. What followed would change everything.

In just 90 days...

the unique Flydown Park was created — the first bike park in Finale Ligure, built from wood and filled with north shore elements. A proper playground.

A wooden playground!

The Flydown Bike Park was a success, and further commissions and trail construction projects followed. The teenager who had started out as a pro rider had become a bike park designer. The company name Bikeparkitect sro quickly took shape.

From Bike Park Architect to Bikeparkitect sro.

From Bikeparkitect sro to PARKITECT.

...and then the Modular Pumptrack enters the picture. That story continues in Part Two.
