Congratulations, Chemnitz!
Chemnitz is not only the European Capital of Culture 2025 - it has also been home to the new Bergstrasse recreational area in Grüna since April. Opened under the motto “Encounters by the Water,” the space has officially been handed over to the “wave enthusiasts”.
A gathering place for all
More than just a place to pass through, this space invites people to stay, connect, and enjoy their local area.
A central hub for all generations
With a strong focus on biodiversity, the Mittelpunkt leisure area in the village of Grüna makes a meaningful contribution to sustainable local development. A circular hiking trail and a planned premium cycle path meet here, with the pumptrack completing the experience.
Planning by "Jacob and Bilz Landscape Architects" in Chemnitz
In line with residents’ wishes, the concept for the site includes a diverse mix of green spaces, a football field, and a modular pumptrack - creating a vibrant and inclusive recreational area.
