Windeck's young residents have a say in all local decisions relating to the Modular Pumptrack.
A Clear Result
Our modular pump track in Windeck was a huge hit from the start!
Through a youth participation process, children and young people were invited to vote on the idea of a Modular Pumptrack via the specially created online portal Windeck's Youth (www.wi-ju.de). The outcome was unambiguous: over 600 children and young people voted, with 96% in favour. Since September 2022, the municipality has had its own mobile Modular Pumptrack in a Speedring layout.
Funding
The funding approach was straightforward. Windeck chose the smallest version, a Speed Ring, as the starting point, supported by local donations. The Modular Pumptrack can be expanded and extended at any time as budgets allow.
No Planning Permission Required
An additional advantage for the municipality: no planning permission is needed. This shortens the decision-making process considerably and makes the mobile solution more flexible than many alternatives.
Shared Across the Whole Municipality
The Modular Pumptrack moves from district to district and from space to space. Its mobility was a key criterion when the system was purchased. All 66 locations across the municipality benefit from it in turn.
Want to upgrade?
The track can stay in one location for as long as needed, then move on, be stored if necessary, and continue its tour.
Residents can vote on their own online platform to decide which district is next. Assembly and dismantling is straightforward for an experienced team.
A Television appearance
The Windeck Modular Pumptrack attracted some well-deserved attention. On the day of the opening ceremony in late summer 2022, regional broadcaster WDR was present to cover the event, and Mayor Gauß was subsequently invited to the studio for an interview.
