How the Modular Pumptrack Came to Be

Part two

How did the Modular Pumptrack come about? The journey is an interesting one. The high-quality, patented Modular Pumptrack, which we now know as the original, is the result of years of testing, refinement and determination.

2003: The first wooden pumptrack is built at the Finale Ligure bike park.

2018: The Classic Edition pumptrack is produced

From Concept to Production

Demand for the bike parks and pumptracks Erik was designing and building rapidly grew in a short time. Due to this, the idea of a modular system took shape in 2004: drawing on Erik's ingenuity, bike tracks could be produced centrally in standardised modules, then delivered and assembled quickly on site. Much like flat-pack furniture, but built for riding. A few minor adjustments on arrival and the track is ready to use.

In 2009 the first complete modular pumptrack was built and sold

The first pre-produced modules were created together with Joseph Grycman

The Modular Pumptrack was originally made entirely from non-slip marine-grade plywood. The pursuit of higher quality and safety led to the development of more effective and durable materials, better suited to withstanding moisture over time. The result of which is still used today: a flexible fibreglass material that is exceptionally non-slip, low-maintenance and built to last.

In 2013 the first dealer meeting takes place and production begins

Global Footsteps & Awards

The hard work pays off: Over the years, PARKITECT has received awards for business concept, product design, quality and innovation.

In 2015, Bikeparkitect officially becomes PARKITECT as we know it today

A new production facility is opened in 2018 to meet the increasing demand

A Modular Pumptrack in Every Corner of the World

With the support of a wide dealer network, the original PARKITECT Modular Pumptrack now brings more activity, more enjoyment, more community and more momentum to countries around the world.

By 2024, there will be over 1,000 Modular Pumptracks installed globally — and the number continues to grow.

This is the Parkitect story.
