With plenty of space available, the community of Schwarzenbek made the most of it by bringing two Modular Pumptracks to Schleswig-Holstein.
Two new modular pump tracks in the Fiberglass version have been adding to the activity on offer at Schwarzenbek's skate park since summer.
A practice straight paired with a World Cup layout — both with an extra-wide 1.4-metre track in a deep green finish — are now the centrepiece of the site.
The practice straight is the ideal starting point: a gentle introduction to the feel of the track and the basics of pumping. With a little practice, wheelchair users can also enjoy the course.
The World Cup circuit offers more variety and faster cornering, while the wider track makes riding both safer and quicker.
Opening Event
Since the official opening, the site has been busy with visitors of all kinds — on foot and on wheels.
opening event drew a full house, including a BMX show and workshop
What Makes This Installation Stand Out
- The location works perfectly — directly alongside the skate park, bringing together riders on all types of wheeled equipment
- The combination of practice straight and circular course offers something for every ability level
- A well-attended opening event with a BMX show and workshop
- Sustainable and safe: the extra-wide fibreglass version delivers on both counts
- Flexible use: while designed for permanent installation, the practice straight can be relocated for events at other venues
Designed to Integrate with the Landscape
The URBAN Edition can be installed as a surface-mounted facility or integrated directly into the surrounding terrain, creating a seamless and durable addition to parks, recreation spaces and urban environments.
"Speed and a little excitement don't necessarily require four wheels or a driving licence. You can do far more with a bike than just commute to work or school. The Modular Pumptrack is intended to be a new social meeting place for young people — and of course for everyone else in Schwarzenbek."
Funding
There are many financing options available. The Schwarzenbek installation was largely funded through the Schleswig-Holstein Accessibility Fund.
"You can ride it with anything that has wheels — roller skates, inline skates, skateboards and longboards, children's bikes and balance bikes, standard bikes, and even wheelchairs."
