Record Numbers and Funding: The Modular Pumptrack in the Canton of Zurich

The Canton of Zurich's mobile Modular Pumptrack made its way to the municipality of Bonstetten to generate:

But let's start from the beginning...

3 weeks on the road to success!

The Modular Pumptrack was on loan to the municipality of Bonstetten in the Canton of Zurich — and over the course of three weeks, riders completed more than 70,000 laps. Full of energy, movement and enjoyment.

70,000 laps of fun

Full of enthusiasm, movement and fun!

the Schoolhouse tour

The Zurich Sports Office and the Bicycle Traffic Department jointly own three mobile Modular Pumptrack systems. Each year, from March to November, these travel on a schoolhouse tour across the canton. Any school can borrow a Modular Pumptrack free of charge for a period of three weeks.

That is exactly what the Municipality of Bonstetten did — and over three weeks in summer, riders collectively clocked up an impressive number of laps.

The Numbers Speak for Themselves! Over 4,603 kilometres were covered in total!

  • On a track 65 metres long, riders on scooters, bikes and all kinds of wheeled equipment completed 70,821 laps — adding up to 4,603 kilometres in total. The distance between Zurich and Cape Verde!
  • Children and adults spent 295 hours in motion on the Modular Pumptrack. Twelve days during which it was muscles, lungs and minds — not phone batteries — that were put to work.
  • The equivalent of 321 burgers with a drink — 236,000 calories — were burned in the process.

What Cannot Be Measured in Numbers The social dimension. All generations, all abilities, all types of wheeled equipment, all kinds of people — coming together, being considerate of one another, laughing, learning, helping, waiting, cheering. That part does not show up in a spreadsheet.
